# Continue pricing

Open-source AI code assistant that runs as an extension in VS Code, JetBrains, and other editors. Individual use is free (BYOK for LLM). Continue for Teams costs $10/user/mo and adds shared prompts, custom AI blocks, and analytics. Enterprise adds SSO, on-prem, and custom integrations. Positioned as the open-source alternative to GitHub Copilot with full customization of models and prompts.

| DISCONTINUED — Cursor acquired Continue.dev around June 16, 2026 in a quiet acqui-hire. Final release v2.0.0-vscode shipped June 19, 2026. continue.dev/pricing returns 404. Cloud data deleted after July 15, 2026. Open-source repo lives on under Apache 2.0 (read-only). The paid hub is gone. | — | — | — |

## Recommendation

In other words, Continue is worth it for developers and teams that want to customize their AI coding stack — choose your own model, write custom prompts, share blocks across the team. Individual tier is free with BYOK; Teams ($10/user/mo) is the cheapest way to standardize prompts across a team. Enterprise adds on-prem for regulated industries. Downside: the UX polish lags Cursor and Windsurf, and you need to be comfortable configuring LLM credentials yourself.

## Alternative to consider

Want a polished out-of-box experience? Cursor or Windsurf. Need only autocomplete (no chat)? Codeium free tier. Just want to use it in JetBrains? Also try JetBrains AI Assistant.

## Vendor context

2026-09-20 MANUAL VERIFY via WebSearch. DISCONTINUED. Cursor acquired Continue.dev around June 16, 2026 in an acqui-hire; no deal terms disclosed. Paid hub retired, cloud data deleted July 15, 2026, pricing page returns 404. Open-source extension remains free under Apache 2.0 but repo is read-only — no ongoing development. RECOMMENDATION: set Status = Archived in the Airtable UI (Status field option cannot be written via this API path). Keep record for historical continuity + redirect /tools/continue → /tools/cursor once Status is archived. Alternatives now: Cursor, Cline, Aider, Codeium/Windsurf.
