Raycast
Raycast · Productivity
Mac productivity launcher positioned as the alternative to Spotlight and Alfred for power users who want extensibility + a great UX. Distinctive for its extensions store, AI features (Ask Raycast), and clipboard history. Priced free (personal) with Raycast Pro at $10/user/mo (annual) or $16/mo. Series B in 2023. Popular with developers, designers, and knowledge workers who spend their day in a Mac terminal + browser.
In other words, Raycast is worth it for macOS power users (developers, designers, ops) who want Spotlight-on-steroids — launcher + snippets + calculator + AI assistant + 600+ extensions. Free covers core launcher forever; Pro adds cloud sync, unlimited AI, and custom themes; Pro + Advanced AI adds premium models. Very easy — replaces Spotlight seamlessly. Native integrations with GitHub, Linear, Notion, Slack, and 500+ apps via extensions. Downside: macOS-only (no Windows/Linux), and Advanced AI subscription adds recurring cost on top of Pro.

STRUCTURAL CHANGE + DATA CORRECTION 2026-09-12. Source: Raycast's own blog, raycast.com/blog/changing-how-raycast-ai-is-priced (corroborated by alternativeto.net coverage, Sept 2026). WHAT CHANGED: Raycast moved AI plans from rate-limited to usage-based AI Credits. 'Advanced AI' is RENAMED to 'Pro+'. A new 'Max' tier launched at $50/mo with 7,500 credits. Credit allowances are now Pro 500 / Pro+ 3,000 / Max 7,500, and credit burn varies by model and task size. Pro also gained models that previously required Advanced AI (Claude Sonnet 5, GPT-5.6 Terra). Existing subscribers roll from Advanced AI to Pro+ at next billing cycle and receive a bonus month. NO PRICE MOVEMENT — NO SNAPSHOT WRITTEN. The vendor states explicitly that all subscription prices stay the same. Pro remains $10/$8. DATA CORRECTION: stored monthly for the Advanced AI tier was $18; the vendor says the tier 'stays at $20 a month', so $18 was simply wrong in our record. Corrected 18 -> 20 as a data fix, NOT an increase. Writing this as an 'Up' would have produced a false 'Price increased' badge on a tier the vendor says did not move — exactly the failure mode the structural-change check exists to catch. Stored annual $16 is retained and is consistent with Raycast's 20% annual discount applied to $20. Max annual rate is not published; left blank rather than inferred from the 20% pattern. Number of Plans 3 -> 4. Team plans (not tracked on this record): Teams Pro $15/user/mo, Teams + Advanced AI $25/user/mo, Enterprise custom/annual.
Windows/Linux user? Pick Wox (Windows), Alfred (macOS alternative), or Espanso (cross-platform). Just want AI in your terminal? Warp or Cursor.
