Figma · Design & Creative

Browser-based design tool that killed Sketch (Mac-only) through real-time collaboration. Adobe tried to acquire for $20B in 2022; deal blocked by regulators. Figma IPO'd in 2025 at higher valuation than the failed Adobe deal. Now expanding into product management (FigJam whiteboards, Figma Slides). Priced per editor across three seat types (Collab $3, Dev $12, Full $16) — the real cost lever is which seats each teammate needs, not which plan.

In other words, Figma is the design tool of choice for teams of 3+ working on web/mobile UI/UX with real-time collaboration and cross-functional handoff to PMs and engineers. Professional covers most design teams; Organization adds design systems and SSO. Very easy for basic design; moderate for design systems. Wide plugin ecosystem plus native Dev Mode and integrations with Slack, Jira, Notion. Downside: performance dips on files with 500+ frames, limited offline mode, and per-editor cost rises quickly as teams scale.

2026-09-01 refresh: Starter (free), Professional $20 monthly / $16 annual per Full seat, and Enterprise $90 all re-confirmed unchanged. Seat-type model re-confirmed on annual Professional: Full $16, Dev $12, Collab $3 — the $12 and $15 figures appearing in some 2026 write-ups are the Dev seat and the monthly Dev seat, not a Professional price cut, which resolves part of the apparent conflict. ORGANIZATION TIER STILL SPLIT, SECOND CONSECUTIVE RUN, NOT APPLIED: costbench.com (verified Aug 2026) and cloudeagle.ai (June 2026) say $55/editor/mo; vendr.com and comparetiers.com (May 2026) say $45/editor/mo billed annually. Two credible sources on each side and no vendor announcement of a change located, so the stored $55 is left UNCHANGED. Delta would be -18%, within the 30% threshold, so this is a source-conflict hold rather than an unusual-delta hold. ACTION: check figma.com/pricing directly with the annual toggle on — this is the only way to settle it, and it has now blocked two refreshes. Open design question still outstanding: whether SPH should model Figma's three seat types explicitly, since a single per-seat number understates the structure.
