Canva
Canva · Design & Creative
Template-first design tool for non-designers, valued $40B private (2024). Distinctive for making Adobe's professional tools feel overengineered for 80% of visual content needs. Popular with SMBs, educators, and social media managers who need decent design without hiring a designer. Free tier is genuinely generous; paid tiers add brand kits, background remover, and Magic Studio AI. IPO expected 2026-2027. Launched an MCP integration with ChatGPT in June 2026.
In other words, Canva is worth it for non-designers and small marketing teams (1-50 people) that need to produce social posts, presentations, and simple video without hiring a designer or learning Adobe. Free tier is genuinely usable; Pro unlocks brand kits, Magic Studio AI, and background remover; Business adds team management. Extremely easy — drag-and-drop with pre-built templates for everything. Native integrations with Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn schedulers, Google Drive, Notion, and 100+ apps. Downside: outputs can feel templated at scale ("the Canva look"), and AI credit consumption on Magic Studio scales fast.

2026-08-24 refresh: TWO issues found. (1) CORRECTED — Entry (Pro) annual. The 2026-08-10 verification note itself stated "annual ~$12/mo, so ~33% annual discount", but the Entry Price Annual field was left at $10 (and Annual Discount % at 44). Three independent Aug-2026 sources (socialrails.com, designrr.io, usecarly.com) confirm Canva Pro is $18/mo monthly or $144/yr = $12/mo annual. Field corrected 10 -> 12; Annual Discount % corrected 44 -> 33. Monthly $18 unchanged, so the 2026-08-24 snapshot is Direction=Stable per the within-tier monthly comparison rule. (2) FLAGGED, NOT APPLIED — Business tier. Stored $20/$16.67. Multiple Jul/Aug-2026 sources (socialrails.com, designrr.io, capterra, felloai.com) report Canva Business at $25/user/mo or $250/user/yr ($20.83/mo). Other sources (costbench.com, aiproductivity.ai, dated ~Jun 2026) still report $20/$20-annual. Sources genuinely conflict AND the $20 figure was manually Verified on 2026-08-10, only 14 days ago. Delta would be +25%, under the 30% age-based auto-investigate threshold, so no status change was triggered. Per accuracy-first policy this was NOT auto-applied and no snapshot was written for Business. NEEDS MANUAL CHECK of canva.com/pricing (watch for region/currency differences — Canva is an AU vendor and prices vary by locale). Verification Status left as "Verified" per never-overwrite rule. 2026-08-10 verify: Canva Pro raised $12.99 -> $15 -> $18 monthly over 2026, all increases linked to Magic Studio AI features. Multiple 2026 sources confirm current $18/mo monthly (annual ~$12/mo, so ~33% annual discount). Real vendor increase, applied. Prior stored $15 was correct at earlier point in year. Business tier now $20/$16.67, formerly Teams (rebranded 2025).
Professional designer or agency? Pick Figma (UI/UX) or Adobe Creative Cloud (print/photo/video). Solo creator on tight budget? GIMP + Krita (both free).
