Netlify
Netlify · Developer & Infrastructure
Frontend deployment, direct alternative to Vercel with a broader framework focus (Jamstack umbrella). Distinctive for its April 2026 pricing restructure — Pro moved to flat $20/mo with unlimited seats, offset by heavier bandwidth and compute meters. Netlify's own blog argued per-seat pricing can't survive an AI world where "everyone is a builder." Free tier still generous for personal projects. Popular with static site generators (Hugo, Astro, Eleventy) and non-Next.js frameworks.
In other words, Netlify is worth it for JAMstack developers and small teams deploying static sites + serverless functions — particularly if you value zero-config Git deploys and edge functions. Free covers hobby projects; Personal covers indie devs with credit-based scaling; Pro unlocks unlimited seats and more credits; Enterprise custom. Very easy setup (connect Git, deploy in 2 minutes). Native integrations with GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, and popular frameworks. Downside: 2026 credit-based restructure surprised legacy users, and legacy accounts (pre-Sep 2025) stay on old plans (upgrade irreversible).

MAJOR RESTRUCTURE 2026-07-28 (verified via Gemini + Netlify's own docs + CEO Biilmann's LinkedIn announcement): Netlify did TWO big pricing changes in 2026: 1. APRIL 14, 2026 — Removed seat-based pricing entirely. Old Pro was $20/mo base + $19-20 per extra team member/Git contributor. New Pro is flat $20/mo with UNLIMITED seats. 2. JULY 14, 2026 — Shifted to unified credit-based resource pricing. All activities (deploys, bandwidth, compute, web requests, AI inference) now draw from a single monthly credit allowance. Credit costs: 15/deploy, 20/GB bandwidth, 10/GB-hour compute, 2/10K web requests, 180 per $1 of AI inference. New plan structure: Free ($0, 300 credits), Personal ($9, 1,000 credits — NEW tier), Pro ($20, 3,000 credits, unlimited seats), Enterprise custom. Legacy accounts (created before Sept 4, 2025) stay on old plans unless they opt in — upgrade is IRREVERSIBLE. Legacy Pro users don't get unlimited seats and still pay $19/mo per extra team member. SPH's earlier snapshots ($9 May, $20 July 2, $9 July 17) reflected the tracker capturing different tiers on different days during the transition, NOT a vendor round-trip. Entry tier is now Personal $9/mo (cheapest paid, replaces the old Starter concept).

Next.js-heavy team? Pick Vercel (deeper Next.js integration). Full-stack apps or Postgres-native? Supabase or Render. Self-hostable? Coolify or CapRover.
