Amplitude

Amplitude · Analytics & Data

The enterprise product analytics platform, publicly traded (AMPL). Positioned as the alternative to Mixpanel for product teams that need advanced funnels, cohorts, and predictive analytics at scale. Distinctive for its 'North Star' methodology framework that many product-led-growth companies now use as their operating rhythm. Free tier limited; paid custom based on tracked events — Growth typically $50-200/mo entry, enterprise deployments run $48K-100K+/yr. Real cost bloat: tracked event volume compounds fast.

In other words, Amplitude is the product analytics tool for product teams that need behavioral cohorts, funnel analysis, and retention charts to guide roadmap decisions. Plus starts usage-based scaling per event; Growth is where enterprise features live. Steep learning curve for building meaningful funnels; SQL knowledge helps but isn't required. Native integrations with Segment, Mixpanel, and 100+ data sources; SDKs for all major platforms. Downside: event pricing scales aggressively past 1M events/mo, and setting up clean tracking taxonomy takes a dedicated data engineer.

STRUCTURAL CHANGE FLAGGED 2026-09-11 — NOT APPLIED, NEEDS MANUAL VERIFICATION. Two separate issues surfaced, neither safe to auto-apply: (1) POSSIBLE BILLING-MODEL SHIFT ON PLUS. One source states that as of July 2026 Amplitude no longer publishes a flat monthly price for Plus, and that Plus now starts at $0 with the first 2M events free, then scales on usage up to ~70M events/mo before pushing you into Growth or Enterprise. If true, this is a flat-to-usage-based restructure and the stored $49/mo entry price would be obsolete rather than merely wrong. However, several other 2026 sources (userpilot.com, comparedge.com, aipriceguide.co) still publish Plus at ~$49/mo billed annually for up to 1,000 MTUs. Sources genuinely conflict on whether a list price still exists, so per accuracy-first policy nothing was changed. (2) POSSIBLE FOURTH TIER. Multiple sources now enumerate FOUR tiers — Starter (free), Plus, GROWTH, Enterprise — with Growth quote-only. Stored structure has three (Starter / Plus / Enterprise) and Number of Plans = 3. Growth is quote-only so no price is at stake, but the tier list and plan count are likely understated. Not restructured unilaterally. Also note sources disagree on the free Starter cap: stored says 50K MTUs; today's sources variously say 50K MTUs, 10K MTUs + 2M events, and 1,000 MTUs. Amplitude appears to be mid-transition from MTU-based to event-based metering, which would explain all three of these discrepancies at once. Verification Status left as Verified per the never-overwrite-manual-verification rule (manually verified 2026-07-28). ACTION: check amplitude.com/pricing directly — confirm whether Plus still has a $49 list price or has moved to usage-based, whether Growth should be added as a 4th tier, and which metering unit (MTU vs events) the free tier now uses. --- DATA CORRECTION 2026-07-28: Previous entry price of $61/mo was incorrect. Amplitude Plus plan starts at $49/mo for 1,000 MTUs, scales pay-as-you-go beyond. Verified against amplitude.com/plus and community announcement. Free Starter tier available at 50K MTUs. Enterprise is custom.
